The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet meeting held at Shimla on Monday, chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Thakur, gave its approval to convert Class IV part-time workers employed in different departments completing seven years of service on March 31, 2025, to daily wage employees.
The Cabinet also gave its approval to shift the Wildlife Wing of the Forest Department from Shimla to the CPD KFW Project Office building located in Dharamshala, to shift the District Jail Mandi to a newly constructed building at Nerchowk and to convert the existing jail into a women’s open jail.
The Cabinet gave the right to fix fees for various examinations to the Himachal Pradesh State Selection Commission.
The Cabinet gave approval to prepare development plans for Chintpurni, Sarahan, and Bhota in order to regulate uncontrolled construction and disorderly commercial development along the National Highways.
The Cabinet approved new guidelines related to demand for vacant posts, the selection process and appointment proposals in various departments and constituted a Cabinet Sub-Committee for future appointments.
It gave approval to operate 350 private stage carriage bus routes and more 18-seater tempo travellers.
The Cabinet approved the filling of 81 posts of medical officers, including 68 posts of casualty medical officers and 13 posts of various categories; the recruitment of 18 qualified professionals of FACT and FACT Plus to enhance forensic capabilities in the Forensic Services Department; and 11 posts of subject matter experts in various Krishi Vigyan Kendras.
The Cabinet approved the construction of two commercial complexes of 14- and 17-storey buildings at Chhota Shimla and in rural Shimla for developing better infrastructure.
