The renowned Shivratri Festival of Mandi, celebrated as the Chhoti Kashi Shivratri Festival, is scheduled to take place from February 27 to March 5, 2025.
Chairman of the organizing committee and Dharmapur MLA Chandershekhar, during a preparatory committee meeting held in Mandi on Monday, announced, “This year’s Shivratri Festival will emphasize the traditions, culture, and heritage of Mandi town alongside its spiritual grandeur.”
The festival will be organized in an international format, drawing inspiration from the famed Kullu Dussehra. Foreign artists have been invited to perform, ensuring a blend of international allure and traditional devotion. Deities will continue to hold a central role in the festival, with special arrangements made for their respect and hospitality. Cultural evenings will also feature members of the Council of Ministers.
Key Highlights of the Festival
- Processions:
- The first grand procession will take place on February 27.
- A middle procession is scheduled for March 2, followed by a concluding procession on March 5.
- Each procession will include captivating tableaux showcasing the cultural richness of Mandi.
- Cultural Evenings:
- From February 27 to March 4, cultural performances featuring both local and international artists will be hosted at the Seri Stage.
Sports Competitions and Activities
- Cricket Competition:
- A cricket tournament will be introduced this year, to be held at Paddal Ground before the fair begins. Future plans aim to elevate it to a national-level competition, giving local talents ample opportunities.
- Other Sports Events:
- Activities such as a half marathon, boxing, basketball, volleyball, jousting, shooting, and cycling will also be organized as part of the festival.
International Participation
- International cultural teams have confirmed their participation, adding a global dimension to the celebrations.
- The North Regional Cultural Team from Patiala will also perform.
City Decoration and Exhibitions
- Decorative Lighting:
- Temples, historical buildings, and key landmarks will be illuminated with decorative lighting to enhance the festive atmosphere.
- Special arches will be installed throughout the city.
- Exhibitions:
- Exhibitions in Paddal Ground will highlight various state government schemes, achievements, and programs.
