Himachal Pradesh Government College Teachers’ Association (HGCTA) has expressed its resentment over the government’s decision to only pay 40% of an employee’s salary during thier  study leave.

State  President of the HGCTA Dr Banita Saklani

said, ” Acording to the existing regulations in the state the employees were entitled to receive their entire salary during study leave as  College teachers seek study leave in order to go for higher study and research work”.

She  said , “The satet government’s  move will discourage the teachers from pursuing higher education”.

” In  order to grow their career and perform better on the job, teachers have the right to upgrade their education and skills which is also required for thier career advancement; Ph.D degree is also required for promotion too.”

HGCTA has demanded that government should maintain the current policy of paying teachers their full salaries during study leaves.

Association has also demanded  increase of  study leave quota for teachers in college cadre and enhance the duration of study leave.
