A large number of aspirants preparing for competitive exams to select Naib Tehsildars (NT) in Himachal Pradesh government, have resented the move of the state government to merge NT selection exams with the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service (HAS) combined selection examination conducted by HP Public Service Commission .
In a representation sent to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu the aspirants preparing for the NT examination for several years have demanded his intervention in the matter and urged him not to merge the NT examination with the combined HAS exam.
The aspirants have argued, “Since the two examinations are being held separately for several years in the state, there are different norms for both NT examination and HAS competitive exam , maximum age criteria for HAS is 35 years while it is 45 years for the NT exam and holding the NT selection examination with the HAS exams would deprive hundreds of candidates preparing for the NT exams, as age bar would make them ineligible to appear in combined HAS exam after merger of NT examination with it.”
Aspirants Rohit Hetta, Diksha Potan and Bhuvnesh Sharma said, “Both exams are of different levels and thus have different syllabuses too and it would be very difficult to take their preparation for aspirants of NT exam to HAS exam, after years of preparation for NT exams.”
The aspirants have urged the Chief Minister not to deprive them from a level playing field by competing with the HAS combined exam aspirants and hold the NT selection exam separately on the existing pattern and not to merge it with the HAS exam.
