Though local administrations have launched massive operations to search more than forty people missing after flash floods in three districts i.e Shimla, Mandi and Kullu districts of the state, the hope to rescue people alive after three days is receding with each passing day .
The rescue teams at Terang village in Mandi district recovered a dead body of a female on Saturday, yet to be identified.
DC Mandi Apoorav Devgan said, “The search operation in the area is continuing with the help of NDRF, SDRF, Police and Home Guards teams and a body of a female was recovered today, six bodies have been recovered so far and four people are still missing; the administration has given Rs 4 lakh each to families of the victims, besides essential items to all affected families.”
Meanwhile BSL engineers at Pandoh Dam are making round the clock efforts to open clogged spillway gates of Pandoh Dam for the past two days.
A BSL project engineer said, “There is no need to panic as water from the dam is being discharged normally and the gates were being opened to release extra water received in the damin any eventuality, the gates would be opened soon,” he added.
After search operation of three days at Bagipul in Kullu district and Samej in Shimla district no missing person has been traced, a villager from the area said, “The hope to rescue people is receding with each passing day and people are desperately looking for their family members,” he added.
The local administration is making efforts to provide shelters and essential items to affected people.
