Satluj jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) organized a function to celebrate International Women’s day on Friday at its head office in Shimla.
The function was presided over by Chairman –cum -Managing Director of SJVN Geeta Kapoor and renowned wrestler and Arjuna award winner Geeta Phogat was the guest of honour of the function.
Addressing the gathering Mrs. Kapur emphasized the historical and cultural significance of women’s contributions, citing them as pillars of empowerment for future generations. She applauded Miss Geeta Phogat for her ground-breaking achievements, including being the first Indian woman to secure gold in wrestling at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and first Indian female wrestler to qualify for Olympic Summer Games in 2012.
Speaking on the occasion Ms. Phogat shared experiences of overcoming challenges in the wrestling arena at national and international level and also exhorted young women to remain resilient in all their pursuits.
An Outbound Training session on Team Building & Model Making on the Women’s Day theme was also organized during the function. The event concluded with a resounding message of empowerment and determination, echoing SJVN’s commitment to championing gender equality and inclusivity in all spheres of operation.
