Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said, “The ongoing G20 – S20 meet at IIT Mandi would provided a platform for delegates from the public and private sectors to come together and explore potential knowledge sharing opportunities to address societal development with technological interventions.”
Addressing the conclave on Technology for Society at the institute today he expressed happiness on witnessing energetic steps being taken by the institute here.
He said, “India is celebrating the G20 presidency throughout the country and IITs intervention in projects such as ropeway project to address the challenges of hilly areas, solar powered efficient cooking stoves to fight the pollution and save the environment are examples of innovative work being done by the Institute.”
He said, “I would request the Institute to work towards addressing the issue of forest fires for the safety of the environment, animals, and local residents as the institute has capability to make technological advances in every field.”
Speaking at the event, Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, Director, IIT Mandi, said, “We are honored to have the Governor as Chief Guest, besides several other distinguished guests like Prof. Ashutosh Sharma former DST Secretary and Padmashri Dr. Janak Palta Mcgilligan.”
He said, “Science and technology is the backbone of the institute and we aim to contribute to the society by addressing various challenges and through this conclave we have had an opportunity to connect and interact with some of the most prominent individuals and learn from them.”
