Union Minister for Power RK Singh said a Central government public sector undertaking will adopt Chitkul village and assist the state government in developing it as a vibrant village.
Addressing a gathering at Chitkul on Thursday the minister said, “ The vibrant villages programme is an initiative of the Central Government to strengthen infrastructure facilities in the villages of northern borders of the country to provide better facilities and Chitkul, Pooh, Nako, Leo and Chango villages of Kinnaur district will be developed under the programme”, he added.
The minister after interacting with the villagers on Thursday said, “The possibility of setting up micro hydro power projects on rivulets of the area would also be explored, besides promoting tourism facilities and rich cultural heritage of the area.”
Mr. Singh along with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu interacted with local people at Chitkul and assured them to address their grievances on priority.
Announcing Chitkul – Mandi bus service on the occasion the CM said, “The state government is emphasizing to develop all backward areas and places of rich cultural heritage, a bus stand with parking, a mini stadium and a community hall would be constructed soon at Chitkul.”
