Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has appealed to the people of the state to be part of ‘Earth Hour’ on March 25 by switching off no-essential lights of their homes and surroundings from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm.
He said the earth hour is being celebrated this year under the theme of ‘The Biggest Hour for Earth’ to save our environment and the earth.
The CM said, “The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) has started a campaign to make people aware about the importance of conserving nature and stopping climate change, the two biggest threats to our planet today.”
He said, “The state government is also working in this direction and has initiated steps to develop the state into a Green Energy state by March 2026 through encouraging electric vehicles and curbing carbon emission.”
The CM said, “The degradation of the environment is a big global challenge and the state government has presented a budget with several initiatives to turn the state into a green state.”
