Himachal Pradesh government has disbanded the Himachal Pradesh Staff Service Selection Commission (HPSSSC) Hamirpur with immediate effect.
The state government suspended the functioning of the commission some time back when an employee of the HPSSSC was allegedly caught selling a question paper of the scheduled screening test for JOAs selection.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said, “The HPSSSC is henceforth dissolved with immediate effect after taking into consideration the filing of a charge sheet in the alleged selling of question paper against 8 persons including an employee of the commission in a court on Tuesday.”
He said, “The investigation has exposed involvement of many officials of the commission from top to bottom in the alleged paper leak case, besides unraveling many irregularities in selection of candidates during the past three years.”
The CM said , “ The Government has decided to transfer the on-going recruitment process from HPSSSC to Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) Shimla to continue the ongoing recruitment process for convenience of the candidates ; the existing staff would be amalgamated in other government department as per employee’s option.”
He said, “The functioning of the HPSSSC was under scanner of the government after the paper leak scam by certain employees was surfaced and allegedly become a den of corruption depriving meritorious candidates from getting government jobs; maintaining transparency had become necessary and new recruitment system would be adopted soon”, he added.
