Dr Navneet Chandra Verma, a former PhD scholar of IIT Mandi has won Indian National Young Academy of Sciences Award -2020 for his research on fundamental understanding of chemical structure and functional relationship of the carbonic nono-particle and their application in super-resolution light microscopy.
Dr. Verma, who completed his Ph.D., under the supervision of Prof. Chayan Nandi of school of basic sciences last year is currently working as a postdoctoral fellow in Technion, Israel Institute of Technology Haifa.
Dr. Verma’s custom built the most advanced single molecule super resolution nano-scopic technique for the first time in India and showed how easily the carbon nano-materials could be utilized as a fluorescent probe to study the cellular dynamics under live cell condition down to nano-meter resolution.
Expressing his happiness, Director of the institute Prof. Ajit K Chaturvdi said the achievement of Dr Verma would inspire young students.
