Thirteen passengers traveling in a taxi lost their lives on Friday , when a Tata –Sumo taxi in which they were travelling was hit by huge boulders on Killar – Udaipur road near Kadu Nullah in Lahaul –Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh .
All the deceased belonged to the Pangi area of Chamba district and were travelling to remote Pangi but none of the victims has been identified so far.
The news of the accident was shared by Pangi- Bharmour MLA Dr. Janak Raj.
He said, “All the passengers had stayed overnight at Tindi as the authorities had issued a notification stopping traffic movement on Udaipur- Killar road due to continuous landslides and boulders falling from the hills; 15 passengers including driver started their journey in a taxi but the vehicles was trapped under the huge boulders and 13 passengers including an infant lost their lives on the spot.”
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed the Lahaul- Spiti district administration, as the accident site falls under the jurisdiction of the L- S district, to provide all possible help to family members of the victims.”
