The Himachal Pradesh Government College Teachers’ Association (HGCTA) organized statewide gate meetings in government colleges on Monday to highlight their long pending demands.

The state President of HGCTA Banita Saklani said, “The HGCTA members held the gate meeting in their respective colleges and the protests were organized in nearly 70 government colleges of the state.”

She said, “The government college teachers have been demanding certain demands related to the teachers and now to highlight the demands the protests were organized on Monday.”

Their main demands includes notification and implementation of the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) , opening of all promotion channels for eligible faculty members, extension of promotional benefits to every eligible teacher and immediate release of Dearness Allowance (DA) and other pending arrears.

Addressing a gathering at Vallabh Government College, Mandi, the office bearers lamented despite repeated representations,  genuine issues concerning the teaching fraternity have remained unresolved.

The Association has urged the Government to take immediate action on their demands as these demands are directly related to the career progression, financial security, and professional dignity of college teachers.

They appealed to the Government to resolve these issues without further delay in the larger interest of higher education in Himachal Pradesh.
