The retired employees of Local Urban Bodies Department of Himachal Pradesh have urged the state government to release revised pension for hundreds of employees of  Municipal Corporations (MCs) Municipal Councils and Nagar Parishads, who retired after January 1st 2016.

A delegation of the employees headed by former Executive Officer Urvashi Walia and pensioner’s leaders Man Singh recently met Urban Development Minister Vikrmaditya Singh and urged him to implement HP Govt. order dated 25-2-2022 vide which revised family pension was to be released to all employees of the Urban Development Department.

They said hundreds of pensioners including class Four safai workers have been deprived from getting the revised pension and other benefits, which require immediate attention of the state government.

The financial benefits which are to be released include revision and payment of arrears, gratuity / leave encashment and commutation of pension for the pensioners retiring between January 1, 2016 and 31-1-2022 and 31-1-2026.

The pensioner rued they are not getting the revised pension benefits even after the lapse of four years whereas their counterparts in other departments are already getting the benefits and  four installments of DA due to all pensioners from 1-7-25 to 31-1-26 have also not been paid till now.

They have urged the Minister to take up their demands with the state government as the service committee has already recommended giving them revised pension benefits.
