Though the Himachal Pradesh government has directed Deputy Commissioner (DC) Solan to initiate proceedings in the alleged violation of Section 118 of HP Tenancy and Land Reform Act- 1972 in ongoing controversy regarding housing project in Solan , the controversy is still not ending as former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has termed the move as an eye wash.
The issue being raised by CPM accusing Acting Chief Secretary of the state Sanjay Gupta for his alleged involvement in granting permission to the Chester Hill Housing Project at Solan under section 118, had opened a Pandora box as Sanjay Gupta in his denial in giving any undue favour, had accused three former Chief Secretaries for allegedly ‘hatching a conspiracy against him in order to stall his posting as a regular Chief Secretary of the state.”
CPM state secretary Sanjay Chuahan has also reiterated his party’s demand to remove Acting Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta from the post and registration of an FIR against him.
Chuuhan said, “The Housing Project was given permission under section 118 despite the adverse report from SDM Solan and order issued by Municipal Commissioner Solan to demolish illegal construction for the project.”
In a press statement issued at Mandi, former CM Jai Ram Thakur stated, “Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, instead of ordering a fair probe in the matter and efforts are on to conceal the facts against the democratic norms.”
He said, “Though the controversial letter issued by the Chief Secretary has been withdrawn, the responsibility of the state government to bring out the truth does not end.”
The Additional Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta has ordered DC Solan to take action against the Chester Hill Project to take action for the alleged violation under the Section 118.
