Ongoing slugfest between the BJP led Central government and the state Congress government over the Delhi Police action against Youth Congress activists, who had participated in a shirtless protest during the recent AI summit in New Delhi on February 20, has turned into a confrontation between Delhi Police and Himachal Police.
The Delhi Police team, which had reportedly arrested three Youth Congress activists from Rohru in Shimla district on Wednesday, were later detained by HP Police at Dharampur later during the day and three activists freed from their custody.
A Delhi Police team had reportedly arrested three activists on Wednesday from a rest house in Rohru sub-division of Shimla district, without informing HP Police.
Acting on the directions from higher authorities , the Solan Police laid a naka at Dharmapur and got the youths released, and detained at least 20 policemen of Delhi Police.
The HP Police termed the action of the Delhi Police as illegal, as no prior information regarding their presence and arrests was given to the state police.
Solan SP Tirumalaraju SD Varma, confirmed said, “The Solan Police had set up nakas; however the action against the Delhi cops was taken by a team from Shimla Police.”
It is notable that the Delhi Police had raided Himachal Sadan at New Delhi at midnight two days back and had allegedly entered a room of a woman staying there. CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had strongly criticized the action.
