Weather has taken a  turn in Himachal Pradesh as snowfall has started on high hills and mid hills in Lahaul- Spiti district , and  as per an information snowfall has started at the Rohtang Pass, Udaipur valley and a few other places on Friday .

The sky remained overcast at many places in Shimla, Mandi, Kullu and Kinnaur districts and cold waves were witnessed in several places in high and mid hills bringing fall in the day and night temperature .

Bringing  a  new hope for farmers , common people and tourists , the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Shimla has issued a fresh weather forecast of light to moderate precipitation  at isolated places over mid hills and high hills of Himachal Pradesh  from January  16 to 21 ,  2026 .

The IMD has predicted snowfall and rain in many parts of the state bringing an end to long dry spell as a good respite for people eagerly waiting for snowfall and rain.

The IMD center Shimla forecast has predicted change in weather in western Himalayan region due to western disturbances from Friday which will bring snow and rain for next few days till January 21.

As a result, light snowfall and rain is likely to occur in the isolated places of middle and higher hills of the state from January 16 to 21. While weather will remain dry in plains and low hills of the state till January 18, these areas will be witnessing light rainfall on January 19 and 20.

Kukumseri village in Lahaul and Spiti district recorded minus 6.2°C minimum temperature making it the coldest place and Solan recorded maximum 23.5°C temperature in the state during the past 24 hours.
