Two persons including a 8 years old boy died after a fire incident in Arki bazaar in Solan district of Himachal,   when an old wooden structure was razed to ashes on Sunday, seven to eight occupants of the adjoining houses are stated to be still missing .

As per police information the fire started from a firepot placed in the room to keep it warm but it soon engulfed the entire wooden building and spread to adjoining buildings , near UCO bank Arki.

The local police said, “Several LPG cylinders caught fire and burst, turning the fire into an inferno; an eight year boy, badly burnt in the incident, was pulled out from the building but succumbed to his burns on the way to Arki hospital and another body was also recovered .” 

The local administration pressed into service fire tenders from Ambuja Cements plant Darlaghat, Sapatu, Banalegi, Boileauganj and Solan etc and teams of SDRF were also deployed to extinguish the fire and extricate persons feared trapped in the building. The fire was brought under control on Monday morning and JCB was deployed to search for missing people.

Arki MLA Sanjay Awasthi and DC Solan Manmohan Sharma also rushed to the spot to supervise the rescue operation.


In another incident a 85 years old lady- Himari Devi  was burnt alive in village Kushala of Sunder Nagar sub-division on Sunday night . Police said she was sleeping in her kitchen when it caught fire and the lady was burnt alive.
