At least twelve passengers travelling in a private bus have died and 33 passengers injured in a bus accident near Hairpurdhar in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh on Friday.   

Reacting to the accident Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said , “ Twelve people have died and 33 passengers were  injured in the bus accident , when a private bus ( Jeet Coach) no -HP 64- 6667 carrying 45 passengers from Shimla to Kupvi rolled down nearly 100 meters into a gorge near Haripurdhar on Friday  afternoon .”   

The Chief Minister expressed his shock over the accident and conveyed deep sympathies to the families of the deceased and of those injured in the bus accident.

He said, “The Sirmaur district administration has been directed to immediately carry the rescue operation and arrange for the treatment of the injured passengers, who are being taken to Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital Shimla and Nahan Medical College.”

 Local people on getting the news immediately started a rescue operation and helped the local administration in extricating the bodies and in shifting the injured to the hospital. 

Industries Minister Harshvardhan Chuahan is supervising the rescue operation at Nahan  and arranging for treatment of the injured in different hospitals. .

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri has expressed his deep condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured speedy recovery. He has also rushed to the spot .
Former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, HPCC President Vinay Kumar and several other leaders have also mourned the deaths in the bus accident and expressed sympathies towards their families and wished speedy recovery to those injured in the bus accident.
