
Newly-appointed Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) President Vinay Kumar formally assumed the charge of the HPCC President at Rajiv Bhawan Shimla on Sunday.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri and former HPPC President Pratibha Singh among others greeted Vinay Kumar on the occasion.
Vinay Kumar, MLA from Renuka Assembly constituency was appointed the HPCC President by the Congress High Command a few days back, after dissolution of the HPCC almost a year back.
He belongs to the SC community and the Congress High Command has appointed him to maintain a caste balance. Moreover, his name was cleared after thorough discussion to bring a consensus among top leadership of the Congress in the state.
Vinay Kumar said, “The dissolved HPCC would be constituted within the next two-three months and we will build a team that will take the programmes and policies of the government to the public. Once we have this team in place, we will start preparing for the 2027 Assembly elections to repeat the 2022 success.”
He said “I will be the voice of the party workers and act as a link between the party and the government,” he said while urging the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister to offer him the required support.
The Chief Minister assured him the government would stand “like a rock” behind him as he rebuilt the party to take on and defeat the BJP in the 2027 elections.
