Several areas of Himachal Pradesh have come under severe grip of cold wave with temperature coming down to zero  with fresh spell of snow on higher reaches and in tribal regions of Lahaul- Spiti , Kinnaur and Pangi district of Chamba, on October 22.

Koksar, Sissu and the Rohtang Pass at 13050 feet are covered with a thick blanket of snow and cold waves have  gripped   tourist towns of  Manali and Shimla indicating the beginning of  winter season in the hills.

Indian Meteorological Department Shimla has reported snowfall and rain in many parts of the state during the past twenty four hours.

A per IMD report the minimum temperatures across the state ranged from 0 degree  30 degree centigrade while  maximum temperatures ranged from 16 to  34 degrees centigrade ;   temperature in Shimla dropped by 1.1 to 11.5 degrees centigrade  ,  Dharamshala  recorded 11.8  7.2 and Narkanda temperature was recorded 8.1 degrees centigrade.  

Many tourists have reached Shimla, Manali and other tourist towns and some have also headed towards Sissu – Keylong and the Rohtang Pass in Lahaul- Spiti district to enjoy snowfall.

The IMD has predicted more snowfall in Lahaul- Spiti district and on higher reaches and rain is Kullu, Chamba, Sirmaur and Shimla during next 24 hours.
