The suspension of Senior Executive Engineer (XEN) of Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) Keylong, Lahual- Spiti district has started a controversy as the suspended XEN Vijay Thakur has accused Deputy Commissioner Lahaul – Spiti for allegedly “humiliating him in the office and on a few other occasions.”
Thakur in a letter sent to Managing Director of the Board has sought his intervention against alleged “continuous humiliation and misbehavior by Deputy Commissioner Lahaul – Spiti.”
Narrating a few incidents, the XEN alleged, “I was publically scolded and rebuked by the DC in front of staff on August 14, 2025 during trade fair and on September 2, 2025 I was called in the DC office but was made to stand for quite some time after which i returned to my office and again called after some time; on my entering the office DC Madam used harsh language and asked me to leave her office”
Talking to HG, Thakur said, “After his letter to the MD I have been put under suspension.”
The controversy has reportedly started after Thakur was sanctioned a 34 days leave by competent authority but the DC resented this and wanted him to supervise restoration of power supply in the district after disruption in power supply due to heavy rain in the region.
“I had resumed my duty on 28-8-25 as directed by the authorities, after heavy rain and made every effort to restore power supply in the area,” Thakur claimed.
The HP Power Engineer’s Association has come in support of the suspend XEN and demanded revocation of his suspension.
Deputy Commissioner Lahaul- Spiti ,Kiran Badhana, on being contacted to seek her version, said, “I had given my version to HPSEBL management on the basis of which the XEN was suspended and don’t want to add anything.”
