Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti (HGVS) launched the trailer of Web series “The White Truth” based on the problem of drug addiction among youths at Shimla on the occasion of International Youth Day on Wednesday.

The web series having seven episodes has been produced by HGVS which will be released in phases and the first episode of the series will be released on International Literacy Day on September 8.

Health and Family Welfare Minister of Himachal Dr. Dhani Ram Shandil, chief guest of the function released the trailer and poster of The White Truth.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister underlining the efforts of HGVS, said, “The web series can play a guiding role for youths and the society since the youths are foundation of the nation, the foundation should always remain strong, the country has lot of expectations from the youths and this foundation can be allowed to weaken by the menace of the drugs.”

 He called for united and collective efforts to solve this problem as the drugs are running the youths and seriously impacting our families and the society.

On this occasion, the state head of the committee, Dr. O.P., gave a presentation on the efforts being made under the “Yuva Bachao Abhiyan” being run by the committee.

He said, “The main objective of the web series is to spread awareness among the youths about the ill effects of drug addiction, to spread the message of de-addiction on a wider scale and to re-integrate the affected youth into the mainstream of society.”

In the series, the affected families and the youth Pankaj who has given up drug addiction also shared their experiences and pain.

The program was presided over by former IAS officer Srinivas Joshi. Principals, Teachers and Students from Himachal Pradesh University’s Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, MBA Rural Development,  RKMV, Kotshera, JawaharLal Nehru Fine Arts Banuti (Dhami), Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial School Ghanahatti also participated in the function.

BGVS’s National Equality Convener Sumitra Chandel, Committee’s Founder President Dr Kuldeep Tanwar among others were also present.
