Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a march and demonstration at Mandi on Wednesday to protest registration of FIRs against BJP activists of Seraj area for stopping official vehicle of Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi and allegedly throwing black clothes and shoes on his car, during his visit to disaster affected Seraj area, a few weeks back.

BJP’s state in-charge Shrikant Sharma, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, State President Dr. Rajiv Bindal, MLAs Vinod Kumar, Anil Sharma, Dilip Thakur and BJP leader Ajay Rana among others participated in the demonstration.

Addressing the activists on the occasion, Shrikant Sharma said, “Arrogance and dictatorship are in the DNA of Congress and Congress government lodged a false FIR against the disaster affected people instead of giving relief.”

He said, “The Congress government may level false allegations and file FIRs against BJP workers but BJP is not a party to bow down and if the government does not withdraw false FIRs filed against the disaster affected people, the party will intensify the protest”.

BJP State President Dr. Rajiv Bindal said, “Despite all odds BJP workers participated in a large number to protest the state government’s action and it is quite surprising the state government has lodged FIRs against disaster affected people instead of providing succor to them.”

Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur said, “Three FIRs were filed against the people troubled by the disaster, out of which one is an FIR for insulting the national flag and it won’t be surprising if my name is also included in the FIRs as process of adding more people in the FIRs still on.”

Jai Ram Thakur said, “A loss of Rs 2000 crores due to rain but the state government has not made any budgetary provision to give relief to affected people.”
