
With monsoon getting active in Himachal Pradesh, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Shimla has issued a red alert of heavy to very heavy rain and flash floods for Solan, Mandi, Sirmaur and Kangra districts for the next 24 hours.
An orange alert of heavy to very heavy rain has also been issued for Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Solan and Sirmaur districts for June 29.
A yellow alert weather warning has also been issued for Shimla, Mandi, and Kullu and Chamba districts for June 29 predicting widespread rain with thunderstorms.
The maximum temperature at Shimla was recorded 23 .4°C degrees, Dharamshala 28C and Manali 23.1°C degrees.
All spillway gates of Larji Dam were opened on Sunday morning and will remain open till morning of June 30, raising water level downstream in river Beas.
Similarly, spillway gates of Pandoh Dam were also opened on Sunday to release excess water in the Dam, raising water level downstream substantially.
The retaining wall strengthened by the Public Works Department, near Vishwakarma temple Mandi, through a new turf reinforcement technique by nailing rock nut bolts deeply, also developed cracks and was damaged on Sunday .
The wall had collapsed during the 2023 nature disaster and the department had recently strengthened it after a public cry.
