Sardar Patel University (SPU), Mandi, celebrated its third foundation day on Tuesday at SPU complex, Mandi, which was attended by distinguished dignitaries, faculty members and students.

Prof. Lalit Awasthi, Vice Chancellor, was the chief guest, and Prof. Anupama Singh, Pro Vice Chancellor, was the guest of honour on the occasion.

 The celebration commenced with a ceremonial lamp-lighting, followed by a formal welcome by Dr Madan Kumar, Registrar of the university.

Prof Lalit Awasthi, speaking on the occasion, presented the annual report of the SPU and highlighted major achievements of the university in academics and other fields.”  

Dr Awasthi also narrated the university’s remarkable progress made during the past three years in the field of academics, research, and innovation. He also congratulated the deans for their academic contributions and wished the faculty members and students will bring many more laurels for the university.

He said, “ The university organised its first convocation, and as many as 311 pass outs were awarded degrees in different streams; it held its first finance committee meeting, besides constituting an academic council, besides holding entrance tests for admission to all courses being run by the SPU and affiliated colleges .”

In her address, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Anupama Singh shared her insights on the university’s vision for the future, experiences and challenges faced by the university since its inception.

 In a symbolic tribute to the values of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, an earthen pot containing soil from his birthplace was handed over to the Vice Chancellor, signifying the university’s commitment to unity, leadership, and academic excellence.

 The university’s newsletter, Mandav Chronicle, was also released on the occasion.

A cultural programme showcasing the cultural heritage of Himachal in general and Mandi in particular was also performed by students.
