( Bijlee Panchayat at Bilaspur)

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Ltd (HPSEBL) employees, engineers, outsourced employees and pensioners held a Bijlee Panchayat at Luhnu Ground Bilaspur on Wednesday to highlight their demands.

Hira Lal Verma, co-convener of the JAC, said, “This was the fourth Bijlee Panchayat of the series where the employees raised their pressing issues and urged the HPSEBL management and the state government to fulfil their demands.”

The demands highlighted by the JAC include “stopping unilateral rationalisation and reduction in posts in the board, starting the recruitment process, implementing the OPS system, releasing pension dues and leave encashment benefits, framing a permanent policy for outsourced workers, stopping retrenchment and re-employing 81 drivers, and following provisions of the bilateral agreement signed between the government and HPSEBL union, and no asset should be transferred without their consultation.”  

Meanwhile, the All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) has demanded the dismissal of the Managing Director of HPPCL and the Director (Electrical) of HPSEBL for their alleged role in the death of Chief Engineer Vimal Negi.

AIPEF Patron and former MD of HPSLDC, Suneel Grover, submitted an affidavit before the Additional Chief Secretary (Home/Revenue) inquiry officer in Shimla and said, “The accused officers should be immediately dismissed, and criminal proceedings should be initiated against them for their alleged role.”
