The pen-down strike by Patwari and Kanungo Sangh in Himachal Pradesh, which had paralysed the revenue work at the grassroots level for the past several days, was withdrawn on Wednesday after talks between the office bearers of the Sangh and Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi at Shimla.

The Sangh was protesting to oppose the announcement of the state government to constitute a state cadre of Patwari and Kanungo in the state.

State president of Patwari and Kanungo Sangh, Satish Chaudhary, said, “An agreement was reached on the demands of the Sangh after talks with the Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi.”

He said, “The announcement of the state government to constitute a state cadre had created mistrust among them, and now the minister has clarified the recruitment and promotion rules will not be changed and their promotion will not be affected in any way.”

The Sangh has also announced it will resume normal work from Thursday.
