Though, Bilaspur Police  is yet  to arrest any culprit involved in the firing incident of Friday, in which former Bilaspur MLA Bambar Thakur, his PSO Sanjeev Kumar and Vikas were shot at Thakur’s residence celebrating Holi, by unknown shooters, Bambar Thakur has accused local MLA Trilok Jamwal for allegedly sheltering the assailants.

Thakur, being treated for bullet injury at Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla in a video message on Saturday said  “I have been attacked by people involved in ‘Chitta’ (heroin) smuggling, as I had been fighting against them.”

He also accused, “ Bilaspur MLA Trilok Jamwal for giving political shelter to these people.”

Refuting the allegations Jamwal said, “The firing on Thakur is a result of gang war between two groups; I strongly condemn the incident and refute the allegations.”

He said, “The incident is not a stray as Bambar Thakur’s son, involved in a firing incident in the Bilaspur court complex a few months back , remained in jail for quite some time.”

“Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu should take stern and immediate action in the matter,” he demanded.

Former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has also strongly condemned the firing incident and castigated the state government “for deteriorating law and order situation and demanded immediate measures to maintain public faith in law enforcing agencies.”  

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu after visiting Bambar Thakur in IGMC Shimla said, “Bambar Thakur is being treated for a bullet wound; I have directed Bilaspur police to immediately arrest the culprits and maintain law and order.”

SP Bilaspur Sandeep Dhaval said, “We are tracing leads in the case and have interrogated a few suspects; drivers of certain vehicles suspected to be involved in the case are also being interrogated.”
