The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to create a common cadre in medical colleges of the state for future appointments in medical colleges.
A spokesman of the state government said, “To improve operational efficiency, equity, and quality of medical education and health services, all future appointments in all medical colleges, besides super-specialty institutions.”
“At present, faculty in medical colleges are appointed on a college-specific cadre system, leading to administrative redundancies, inconsistencies in service conditions, and acute faculty shortages, particularly in newly established medical colleges; and to address these challenges, the common cadre system will create a unified structure for faculty recruitment, career progression, and inter-institutional transfers, ensuring a fair and transparent framework for faculty management,” he added.
The government is of the opinion, “This initiative will standardize recruitment procedures, training programmes, and career advancement opportunities while harmonizing service conditions across all government medical institutions.”.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said, “The state government is committed to improving healthcare services and strengthening medical education and emphasized, The establishment of a common cadre will create a robust system, ensuring higher standards in medical education and healthcare delivery across the state.”.
