BJP MLAs in the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha boycotted the MLA priority meeting convened by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, alleging their works are not getting done.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is meeting all MLAs of the state before the beginning of the new financial year to know their priorities for their respective Assembly constituencies.

He has held meetings of MLAs from Solan, Chamba, Bilaspur,  Lahaul – Spiti, Kangra, Kullu and Kinnaur districts in this regard.

However, BJP MLAs boycotted the meeting, accusing the state government of not approving Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for different development works submitted by BJP MLAs.

To clarify BJP’s stand, “The Leader of the Opposition, Jairam Thakur, said, “The BJP has decided to boycott the MLAs priority meeting to be held on February 3 and 4 convened by the Chief Minister, as during the last two years, none of the works mentioned by the BJP MLAs have been given priority by the Sukhu government; on the contrary, our MLAs are being harassed in various ways.”.

“When our MLAs’ DPRs are not being considered at all, what is the point of attending the meeting? So, we have decided to boycott the meeting,” he added.

Thakur said, “ The BJP would decide in its Legislature Party meeting, ahead of the Budget Session, whether we would submit the MLAs priorities in writing to the concerned authorities.”
