( MBA – Rural Development students after getting certificates)

A ten-day training programme for third-semester students of MBA – Rural Development of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla concluded on Tuesday at Nagwain.

The training programme for the students was organized by the School of Himalayan Studies of the HPU in collaboration with the Society for Technology and Development (STD) Mandi from February 2 to 11 and was attended by 24 students.

In the concluding ceremony, vice president of STD, Dr. Kishor Khosla, in his lecture, stressed the need to address the issue of climate change.

He said, “The threat of global warming has become a real challenge for the world community as the temperature of our planet earth has already risen by 1.5 degrees Celsius, and any further increase in temperature will seriously affect life on earth.”

“It is very important to arrest the changing process of global warming by reducing carbon emissions and every one of us will have to take the challenge seriously to save our planet and human life,” he added.

In the closing session, Dr. Satish Guleria, former seed scientist, discussed the important role of advanced seeds in rural development.

Former president of STD, DP Gupta, in his lecture, spoke about scientific temper and emphasized adopting a scientific attitude by questioning things, analyzing things scientifically, and not falling prey to obscurantist ideas.

Certificates to participants were distributed after completion of the training program.

Secretary of STD Joginder Walia said several resource persons from different fields delivered their lectures, besides organizing field visits for the exposure of the trainees.
