Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu emphasized the significance of tourism as the backbone of Himachal Pradesh’s economy during a review meeting of the Tourism Department. He announced to invest Rs 2415 crore to strengthen tourism infrastructure in the state.
H said, “Rs 150.27 crore would be spent on the development of Shiv Dham at Mandi, Rs 51.70 crore for beautification of Baba Balak Nath Temple in Hamirpur district, Rs 78.09 crore for the beautification of Nagrota Bagwan and Palampur, Rs 280.39 crore for establishing Wellness Centers at Nadaun (Hamirpur), Nagrota Bagwan (Kangra) and in Mandi and Kullu, besides sending Rs 8.64 crore for restoration of Naggar Castle in Kullu district.”
The CM said, “To promote adventure sports in the state a rafting complex at Nadaun, ice skating and roller skating rinks in Shimla, Manali and Dharamshala will be constructed with the cost of Rs 163.50 crore “.
He directed officials to secure operational authorization from DGCA for Sanjauli, Rampur (Shimla), Kangani Dhar (Mandi), and Baddi (Solan) heliports.
Chairman HPTDC Raghubir Singh Bali, Principal Secretary Tourism Devesh Kumar, Secretary to CM Rakesh Kanwar and Director Tourism Vivek Bhatia was also present in the meeting.
