Deputy Commissioner Kangra has sacked the Block Development Committee (BDC) member accused of misbehaving with Kashmiri hawkers selling their products in Lambagaon area of Kangra district, few days back.
DC Kangra Hem Raj Berwa said, “BDC member Shushma Devi accused of misbehaving and threatening two Kashmiri hawkers selling Kashmiri products in the village, was issued a show cause notice after a FIR in this regard was filed in Alampur police station a few says back; as the BDC member’s reply was not satisfactory she was removed from the post for her inappropriate behavior, under the Panchayati Raj Act and divested her of all powers.”
The DC said, “She has failed to uphold the responsibility for her public office and acted in an inappropriate manner.”
BDC member Shushma Devi had allegedly misbehaved with the minority community hawkers selling Kashmiri products in the villages; she also threatened them not to visit villages and forced them to chant slogans in favour of Hindu religion.
The issue was raised by a student organization of Jammu & Kashmir at the national level and was condemned widely by people after the video of the act was circulated on social media.

The action should have been taken by the HP government immediately after the Vedio of this unfortunate incident became viral tarnishing the reputation of the communally harmonious society of the state. Now ,though late enough ,yet a good decision of the government to sack the said BDC member .
