The old students of erstwhile Rana Padam Chander Sanatam Dharam College Shimla have decided to form Old Student’s Association of the college.
The decision was taken in a meet held at Shimla in this regard on Monday in which nearly fifty old students of the college were present.
Convenor of the group of old students of the RPCSDB college Veena Sud said , “ The RPCSDB college was a very reputed co-educational institution of Shimla where thousands of 36students from Shimla and surrounding areas, including several prominent students studied but the state government decided to take over the college in 1977 which was later converted into a girls government college named as Rajkiya Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (RKMV) and the RPCSDB college lost its entity.”
She said, “Sometime back Principal of the RKMV Dr. Anurita Saxena and few old students of the erstwhile RPCSDB college took an initiative to form the old student’s association and after consistent efforts of a core group of old students the decision to form the old student’s association was taken.”
“The main objective of forming the association is to bring old students of the RPCSDB college on a common platform, revive old memories and contribute for present generation of students of the RKMV and other colleges by supporting them in advancement of studies, besides by taking few other initiatives,” she said.
The core group of students have also formed an- ad hock committee consisting of Veena Sud (President), Narender Bisht (Vice President), Bhavnesh Banga (General Secretary), Narender Tanwar (Joint Secretary) and Prem Verma as Tresure, Sulakshana Arya and Swatantar Yadav as executive committee members.
On the initiative of the RKMV Principal Anurita Saxena, staff members and students of the college organized a colorful programme for the old students of RPCSDB college.
While it was a great moments for old students of the RPCSDB college as many of them met each other after a gap of nearly fifty years or so, they have thanked Dr Anurita Saxena, staff members and students of the college for 37 welcoming them in the college and relive their college memories one again.
Two former revered Professors of the RPCSDB college Prof. Shiam Sunder and Prof. Usha Bande were invited as special guests in the function and honoured by the old students.
