Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced a relief package for monsoon disaster affected people of Samej area of Rampur and Baghi area of Anni on Wednesday while speaking in the closing ceremony of Lavi fair at Rampur on Thursday .

He said, “The families who lost their homes completely in the flash floods would receive Rs. 7 lakh as a relief and Rs 1 lakh for partially damaged houses, death certificates of victims, besides giving financial assistance to the families of the victims would be expedited .” 

The CM said, “Since I have come from a common family I can fully understand the problems of common people well and would do everything to help them; the state government rehabilitated 23,000 affected families last year and provided a special economic package of Rs. 4,500 crore, despite not getting any financial support from the central government”.

The Chief Minister also accused the previous BJP government for squandering public funds and said the state government is trying to close loopholes to stop any misappropriation of funds meant for welfare of common people announced in the budget.

Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh also addressed the gathering on the occasion.
