The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested three accused including Regional Provident Fund Commissioner , Enforcement Officer of Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), Baddi, Solan (HP) and a private consultant on Wednesday for accepting bribe of Rs 10 lakh (Rs 5 lakh in cash and Rs 5 lakh through self cheques ) from the complainant.
A spokesman of the CBI said , “ A case was registered by the CBI on November 24 against two accused Regional Fund Commissioner and Enforcement Officer of EPFO, Baddi, in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh , for demanding Rs ten lakh through a private consultant to settle pending dues of nearly Rs 45 lakh in the EPFO office regarding provident fund of the complainant’s firm .”
Acting on the complaint the CBI conducted searches at Shimla, Solan and Baddi offices of EPFO and residences of the accused persons, recovering approximately Rs 23.5 lakh in cash and incriminating documents from the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner’s premises in Chandigarh.
The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused private consultant while accepting Rs. 10 lakh (Rs 5 lakh in cash and a self cheque of Rs. 5 lakh) from the complainant on behalf of accused Enforcement Officer and Regional Provident Fund Commissioner. All three accused were arrested on Wednesday and produced in CBI court Shimla.
