The members of Mandi press club supported by a few journalists’ organizations submitted a memorandum to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu through Deputy Commissioner Mandi Apoorav Devgan on Monday, demanding cancellation of an FIR registered against news portal brought from Dharamshala.
The members of the club said an FIR was registered against the portal at Sadar Police station Shimla on October 8 under various sections of BNS for carrying an analytical report about Haryana election criticizing few decisions of the Himachal Pradesh government.
The members said, “This is a direct attack on the independence of the fourth pillar of the state and the state government should take immediate steps to cancel the FIR for maintaining cordial relations between the government and the media persons.”
