Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the funds allocated by the central government to Himachal Pradesh are the state’s rightful entitlement and not an act of charity by the Central government.
Talking to media persons at Shimla on Monday, the CM said, “Himachal Pradesh is an integral part of the federal structure, where each state has both rights and responsibilities and questioned where the union government collects its taxes from?”
“It is the states’ contributions which forms the central revenue; therefore states have a legitimate claim on the tax collected and the Union government is not distributing charity but returning what is our due, moreover the revenue deficit grant is a rightful entitlement of the people of Himachal Pradesh and we are also entitled to our share in central taxes,” he asserted.
Criticizing Union Minister JP Nadda, the CM said, “As a minister in the union government and being the national president of BJP his statements are against the interests of the state.”
The CM said, “After the Congress Party secured 40 seats in Himachal Pradesh, he has been subjected to personal attacks and BJP leaders raised bogey of toilet tax in Himachal to influence voters in Haryana Assembly election, knowing well no such charge has been levied on the public.”
