Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and USAID, conducted a one-day workshop on Ecosystem Approach and Technological Innovations at the ICFRE-Himalayan Forest Research Institute, Shimla) on Wednesday .
A press release of the institute said, “Dr. Vaneet Jishtu, Senior Scientist from HFRI, coordinated the Forest Management Workshop aimed to encourage students from colleges and research scholars from universities for adopting ecosystem-based approaches in their works”.
A practical session on map creation by using GIS technology was also conducted by Dibyendu Biswas, GIS expert from Forest PLUS 3.0.
The importance of Ecosystem-Based Forest Management, emphasizing interdependence of ecological processes and forest management, role of technology in forest conservation and significance of gender inclusion in forest management were also discussed in the workshop, besides group activities.
Earlier, main speaker of the function Dr. Sanjeeva Pandey, Senior Forest Consultant, Forest PLUS 3.0 briefed the participants about the Ecosystem Approach for Forest Management. His message was
