Three newly elected MLAs to HP Vidhan Sabha were administered oath by Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania on Monday.
Three MLAs – Kamlesh Thakur, wife of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, elected from Dehra Assembly constituency, Ashish Sharma elected from Hamirpur and Hardeep Singh Bawa elected from Nalagarh Assembly constituency, were administered oath at a ceremony organized at Vidhan Sabha .
The Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, Cabinet Ministers and MLAs among others attended the function.
With the inclusion of three MLAs the number of Congress MLAs in the house of 68 has risen to 40 and number of BJP MLAs to 28, however there is no Independent MLA in the house.
This is the first time a couple, CM Sukhu and his wife Kamlesh Thakur, are members of the same House.
Talking to the media persons here, CM Sukhu accused the BJP of hatching a conspiracy to destabilize the government by horse-trading.
In his response, Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur accused the Congress government of winning the by-polls by misusing the official machinery.
