The Student Federation of India (SFI) has demanded the constitution of an inquiry commission monitored by Himachal Pradesh High Court in alleged “recruitment scam”in Himachal Pradesh University Shimla, while recruiting teaching faculty from 2019 to 2023.
Talking to media persons at Shimla on Thursday, state president of SFI Anil Thakur and Secretary Ditin Denta accused, “ The Himachal Pradesh University of illegal recruitment of teachers in the university from 2019-2023 since the Executive Council of the university had delegated its power to then Vice Chancellor, in violation of university acts and norms. “
They said, “The High Court has already cancelled the appointment of two associate professors after finding irregularities in the recruitment process.”
Highlighting some of the irregularities, SFI alleged, “Appointments were made based on fake research papers, NET exemption certificates were issued illegally, experience certificates were not properly verified, posts were transferred illegally from one department to another and EWS and OBC certificates were entertained without verification, as nearly 250 posts in teaching faculty and nearly 400 pots of non-teaching staff was recruited.”
Squarely blaming former Vice Chancellor Prof. Sikander Kumar for the alleged irregularities, SFI has demanded legal action against him and cancellation of illegal recruitments.

I think this is required, system need to be revamped!
SFI’s demand for fair inquiry in the recruitment process seems genuine in view of the large scale appointments made by the then VC by bypassing the necessary approval of the all important EC .
