Himachal Pradesh Government College Teachers Association ( HPGCTA) has welcomed the decision of the state government to give Teachers’ Award to the teachers of Himachal Pradesh colleges also .
The President of the HGCTA Dr Banita Saklani said , “ This is an important decision since no previous government thought of giving the teacher’s award to college teachers and no college teachers have been given any award till now.”
She said, “  Though every teacher from University professors to school teachers is making efforts to shape future lives of the students, College Teachers were never given any award and every college teacher is now delighted by this act of the state government  .”
She said , “  Apart from teaching, college teachers also  support and guide the students for their bright future in NSS and NCC , besides motivating them to participate in different spots and cultural activities and programmes of the Central and the state governments .”
“ This will also create competition among college teachers to fare better than others and work hard,” she added.
The HGCTA has also urged the state government to raise the retirement age of college teachers to 65 years to bring uniformity with the retirement policy followed by  many colleges and universities.
