Income tax raids on a few business establishments and residential buildings of certain leading businessmen of Hamirpur town on Saturday morning created panic .
A source privy to the raids said, “The income tax teams had reached early morning at about 5 am outside a few business establishments in Hamirpur bazaar and started the raids as soon as the establishments were opened on usual opening time at 10.30.”
“The income tax teams have raided business premises of a leading jewelers, few wine contactors, a petrol pump owner and few other businessmen of Hamirpur and Nadaun towns“, he added.
Though, there were rumours of raids by Directorate of Enforcement (ED) teams on people connected with Congress party but there was no confirmation from any quarter in this regard.
Superintendent of Police Hamirpur Bhagat Singh said, “We only have information of income tax raids on certain business establishments and have no other information than this.”
