Eighteen candidates filed their nomination papers on 5th day of filing nominations on Monday, for parliament and Vidhan Sabha by-elections in Himachal Pradesh.

Polling for the parliament and Vidhan Sabha by-elections will  be held in the 7th and last phase of election on June 1.

As per information provided by the state election department, the prominent among those who filed their nomination papers today includes Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur, who filed his nomination papers as a BJP candidate from Hamirpur parliament constituency,  Varinder Singh Kanwar filed his nomination papers as BJP covering candidate from Hamirpur parliament constituency.

Rashtriya Devbhoomi candidate Jagdeep Kumar also filed nomination papers from Hamirpur parliament constituency.

 Congress candidate Vinod Sultanpuri, BJP candidate Suresh Kumar Kashyap and Reena Kumari as BJP covering candidate filed their nomination papers from Shimla (Reserve) parliament constituency. 

 BSP candidate Rekha Rani and her covering candidate Vijay Kumar, Sanjeev Guleria – a candidate of All India Forward Bloc and an Independent candidate Kehar Singh, filed their nomination papers from Kangra parliament constituency.

For the Vidhan Sabha by-elections former minister Dr Ram Lal Markanda filed his nomination papers as an Independent candidate for Lahaul-Spiti Assembly constituency, Congress candidate Rakesh Kalia from Gagret Assembly constituency, Renu Kalia as his covering candidate and NCP candidate Ravinder Dogra from Sujanpur Assembly constituency, also filed their nomination papers, among others.
