The mortal remains of Prof. Simi Agnihortri, wife of Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, were consigned to flames at their ancestral village Gondpur -Jaichand in Haroli Tehsil of district Una on Saturday .
Her last rites were performed by her husband Mukesh Agnihotri who lit the funeral pyre along with his daughter Aastha.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, his Cabinet colleagues, Speaker of Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Kuldeep Pathania, state BJP president Rajiv Bindal, several MLAs and other dignitaries joined the funeral procession to the cremation ground.
Simi had passed away last night on way to hospital after developing a respiratory problem.
The CM said, “The unexpected passing away of Simi Agnihotri is deeply saddening, leaving an irreplaceable void in the family. I have known Prof. Simi Agnihotri since my university days, she was a highly educated woman committed to social cause”.
“Life’s unpredictability has placed the burden on Mukesh Agnihotri and their daughter to lean on each other for support, May her soul find eternal peace? Our heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to the grieving family during this challenging period and pray to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family for bearing the loss, ”he added .
Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla also expressed grief over the sudden demise of wife of Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and prayed to the almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and to give strength to the bereaved family to bear the loss.
Condolence message from all leaders have been sent across party lines including BJP president JP Nadaa, Union Minister Anuarg Thakur, CPM state secretary Dr Onkar Shad, several MPs and MLAs.
