No trace of four workers missing since Friday after devastating fire in an illegally run perfume factory at Jharmajri village in Baddi-Barotiwala industrial area of Solan district, has been found so far.
Charred bodies of five workers have been traced by the police so far and 29 workers injured in the incident are being treated at local hospital and PGIMER Chandigarh.
“The fire was reported on Friday afternoon in NR Aroma factory run illegally since 2009, while drums of chemicals were being heated to manufacture perfumes with shutters of the factory shut, leaving little chance for factory workers to escape from fire”, said a police source.
The Police have booked management of the factory under various sections of IPC and arrested plant manager Chandu Chandershekhar but the owner of the factory had fled after the incident and police is trying to nab him.
The police said, “The entire building in which the factory was being run has become very fragile and it is very difficult to go inside to trace the missing workers and efforts are on to trace the missing bodies.”
Industries Minister Harshvardan Chauhan visited the area on Monday and announced to set up a multi-departmental task force to prevent such incidents and enforce proper safety measures in industries.
