Himachal Pradesh Cabinet has decided to convene the winter session of HP Vidhan Sabha from December 19 to 23 at Tapovan Dharamshala and sent the recommendation to HP Governor.

The decision was taken in a Cabinet meeting held at Shimla on Saturday presided over by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

The Cabinet also decided to appoint 4500 Para- workers in Jal Shakti Department, fill up 25 posts of Excise and Taxation Inspectors and 10 posts of Horticulture Development Officers.

It also accorded sanction to one time waiver in Motor Vehicle Tax and penalties associated with old vehicles (scraps) under Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility for one year to motivate vehicle owners for using scraping option of old vehicles.

It also decided to grant 25 percent concession to non-transport vehicles for up to 15 years and 15 percent concession in case of transport vehicles for eight years, on the tax payable under section 14 of the HP Motor Vehicles Taxation for registering new vehicles against the submission of valid Certificate of Deposit.

The Cabinet also decided to cancel allotment of 780 MW Jangi Thopan Powari Hydro Electric Project given to SJVN for not achieving the progress in implementing the project within stipulated time.

 It also decided to bring more areas of Shimla, Chopal, and Kullu under the planning area to check haphazard construction and adopt six plus years of age criteria for admissions in the first class in all schools from 2024 – 25 academic sessions.

The Cabinet decided to amend the rules of the Himachal Pradesh Hindu Public Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Rules- 1984 to make optimal use of gold and silver lying with the temples of the state.
