( Rahul Gandhi going to attend parliament session after restoration of his Lok Sabha membership)

Lok Sabha membership of former AII India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi was restored on Monday by the Lok Sabha secretariat after which Rahul Gandhi MP representing Waynad constituency attended the ongoing session of the parliament.

It is notable the Supreme Court of India had put a stay on conviction of Rahul Gandhi by a Gujarat court on Friday.

Rahul Gandhi has been convicted for two years by a court in Gujarat in a defamation case filed by a former minister of Gujarat, as a corollary of which  Rahul Gandhi was disqualified from the membership of Lok Sabha.

The lower court, a district court and Gujarat High Court had earlier declined to stay Rahul Gandhi’s conviction and dismissed his appeals after which he had moved the Supreme Court of India.

The Supreme Court of India’s decision of granting stay on his conviction had made him eligible for restitution of his Lok Sabha membership.
