Himachal Pradesh government has decided to ensure weight based sale of apples in the state during the ensuing apple season.
Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi after a meeting with the representatives of the apple growers, traders, commission agents and government officials at Shimla on Tuesday said, “Since there is a great demand of Himachal apples throughout the country and in the international market for its good quality, the state government has taken a decision to ensure selling of apples by weight from this apple season on the suggestion of apple growers.”
He said, “This step would protect the rights of the apple growers, stakeholders and people involved in the apple trade and the state government would firmly implement this decision.”
President of Himachal Seb Utpadak Sangh and former MLA Rakseh Singha, Convener of Samyukta Kissan Manch Sanjay Chauhan among others were present in the meeting.
